The City of Burien, Washington selected Urban Partners through a public competition in October 2003 to plan and develop a $200 million "town square" mixed-use project on ten acres in the heart of downtown Burien, an historic suburb south of Seattle.
The development features a mix of civic and private uses including a City Hall, County Library and Town Square park. In a model public/private partnership, Burien worked with Urban Partners in over 50 public meetings and successfully mobilized funding from Federal, State, County, City and private sources.
The development has catalyzed a wave of new investment and public pride in downtown Burien and is serving as a model for "first tier" suburban regeneration throughout the region.
