Dan Rosenfeld was a Founding Principal of Urban Partners. He was involved in all of the firm’s projects with particular emphasis on public sector relationships, design, marketing and activities in the Pacific Northwest.
Mr. Rosenfeld started his career in Los Angeles with The Cadillac Fairview Corporation, the largest publicly-held real estate company in North America, where he developed over two million square feet of office, industrial and research and development space. In subsequent years he worked for Kilroy Industries in Seattle, Los Angeles and Tampa, Florida and was regional partner for Tishman Speyer Properties in Frankfurt, Germany where he was charged with construction and leasing of the Helmut Jahn-designed 70 story MesseTurm office tower, then the tallest building in Europe.
In 1992 California Governor Pete Wilson appointed Mr. Rosenfeld to serve as Deputy Director of Real Estate in the Department of General Services of the State of California with responsibility for 18,000 state-owned properties. In addition to cost-cutting and selective privatization initiatives, Mr. Rosenfeld managed the successful completion of nineteen major building projects for the state, totaling eight million square feet. Many of these developments have been recognized for their creative use of existing and historic structures and their positive role in the revitalization of California’s cities.
Upon completion of his term in Sacramento Mr. Rosenfeld was invited by Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan to establish similar asset management programs for the 12 million square feet of buildings and 8,000 properties controlled by the City of Los Angeles.
After leaving public service Mr. Rosenfeld directed the Los Angeles development office of Jones Lang LaSalle; a New York Stock Exchange-listed real estate services firm, where he continued his efforts on the redevelopment of downtown Los Angeles and other local communities.
Mr. Rosenfeld is a member of the Los Angeles Civic Center Authority and the Boards of Directors of Grand Performances, Central City Association of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and Dunbar Economic Development Corporation. He is currently Co-Chair of the Land Use, Housing and Construction Committee of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Rosenfeld left Urban Partners in 2009 to accept a position in public service.
